Makaela is 12 and her hormones are ROLLIN' in, like a bad country song!
She was gone most of the summer break in California with Jason's mom and camps, etc. When she got back she was super happy, seemed to have really missed Jason and I. She was sending lots of "I love you" backs after text conversations, etc.
Then, school started and the hormones escalated and now the "I love you" backs are seldom but I continue to send them to her so that she knows she has me for support and this morning I got one back with 3 big hearts!
Those moments make me forget about SOME of the whining, sighs, UGH's, I get when asking about chores, if she's brushed her teeth, etc. 🙂 I love this little girl and appreciate that she is at that age where the "I love you" back moments might come less and less but I'll keep sending them!
She is also at the age where she doesn't always reply to a text that I send because she doesn't always understand that she should and she doesn't always send a thank you via text when maybe she should.
I've come to understand that although she seems older, she is still young and doesn't know that she should be responding unless I let her know that I want her to, which will hopefully help with good habits going forward, not only in our conversations but in her conversations with others as well.
