I'm Jess and I'm a Steppy (stepmom) and this is my blog.

Why "Steppy"? I've been on the search for a new term for "stepmom", due to the negative stereotypes associated with it. My husband I were recently at dinner with friends and they shared that the kids call their stepmom "steppy".  I fell in love with the term, as I feel it generates a nice feeling and is a great alternative to stepmom. 

When I started dating my husband there were a lot of conversations to be had, as there was a child involved, and that child wasn't mine, biologically. I really didn't have anywhere to turn for advice on how to handle those conversations or just how to feel about certain situations so I'm sharing my stories with you, in the hopes that they will help someone. 

I'm not an expert, nor am I saying that our way was the right way, just sharing our journey with you to let you know you're not alone.
